Jude Bellingham is understandably wanted by Europe’s top clubs. Chelsea have entered the race to sign the midfielder next summer, however, Real Madrid and Liverpool are still leading the race.

The Blues are trying to close the gap on their rivals and are prepared to offer more money. According to The Telegraph. Todd Boehly and the investment fund, Clearlake Capital, have already approached Bellingham’s entourage about joining Chelsea, despite being informed that both Los Blancos and the Reds are ahead of them in the running. But at Stamford Bridge, they believe there is still time to approach the 19-year-old England international.

The threat from Madrid and Liverpool has not discouraged the English club’s board, who would be willing to invest whatever it takes. Borussia Dortmund have reportedly valued him at €143 million.

Jorginho and Kanté's futures up in the air

Chelsea are clear about their list of priorities. That is why they will sign a young midfielder in the next summer transfer window, and if it is not Bellingham, they could target Declan Rice, also valued at around €150 million by West Ham. Boehly will add to Chelsea’s midfield, regardless of what happens to Jorginho (30) and Kanté (31).

The two midfielders, now veterans, have their respective deals expiring in 2023 and have yet to renew. Chelsea have not offered them the deals they want and negotiations are still ongoing. If one of the two end up leaving, the need to strengthen the midfield will be even greater for Chelsea.
