Chelsea set to sign Marc Cucurella for €68 million
Chelsea have reached an agreement with Brighton to sign Marc Cucurella for €68 million.
Chelsea have a new left-back and Marc Cucurella has a new team. Today, as confirmed by Diario AS, Chelsea and Brighton reached an agreement for the Spanish full-back, who will sign a deal until 2028.
Until last week, Cucurella’s future seemed to be at Manchester City. However, the high transfer fee wanted by Brighton, who would not accept less than 60 million euros (50 million pounds), made Pep Guardiola’s team pull out of talks. Chelsea then entered the race and were happy to pay the price set for the 24-year-old.
Cucurella, who handed in a transfer request, was clear that he wanted to leave Brighton and that this summer was the time. He has not played a pre-season game for the club this summer. The price that Chelsea has paid and the interest of these two great Premier League clubs show the high regard top clubs have for the former Barcelona youth team player.
