Guadalajara native Javier Hernández cut his teeth as a player in the lower ranks with Chivas before breaking through to the first team. His performances in the red and white stripes between 2006-2010 saw the player generate much interest among major European clubs before Manchester United secured his signature. Before departing for the Premier League, ‘Chicharito’ made a promise stating that he would retire with the ‘Sacred Flock’ and everything seems to indicate that things may turn out this way.

According to information from Sergio Dipp, from ESPN, Chicharito has already said yes to club owner Amaury Vergara for a possible return to the team however, the financial agreement relating to a return has yet to be thrashed out but the player would return to the Liga MX side as a free agent.

Despite everything pointing to a potential return of Chicharito to La Perla Tapatia, ESPN’s Álvaro Morales hinted that Hernández wanted to be close to his children in England and was looking at clubs in the Championship (the second tier of English football).

Dipp also mentions that Chicharito is anxious to return to action and keen to quieten many who have claimed that his time at the top level has come to an end after a later disappointing spell with LA Galaxy as he missed the bulk of the 2023 season due to a cruciate ligament injury.

A Javier Hernández return to Chivas, would be widely embraced by supporters with Chicharito winning the Apertura 2006 after the Guadalajara side beat Toluca in the final.
