Chicharito Hernández’s LA Galaxy spiralling out of control

On Saturday the match between LA Galaxy and Colorado Rapids took place, corresponding to matchday 11 of MLS 2023, and Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández couldn’t help but face another loss with his teammates. The most critical part of this moment is that the Mexican fired blanks again and they were defeated by a team that had added only their second victory.

The obligation to satisfy fans is paramount for sports franchises, and Galaxy failed to do so yet again, suffering a 1-3 defeat against the Denver-based side. This result leaves the team second from the bottom of the Western Conference and the second-worst in the entire North American league.

Lalas Abubakar (14′) and Jonathan Lewis (81′) scored the other goals for the Rapids, bringing the Galaxy’s tally of goals conceded to 17 in 10 games, compared to just eight scored. Preston Judd did convert a consolation goal for the home team in the 89th minute.

Next challenges for the LA Galaxy

Greg Vanney’s team is set to face two tough challenges in their next games, with the Seattle Sounders in the US Open Cup and the San José Earthquakes in the 2023 MLS, both at the Dignity Health Sports Park. However, playing on home turf has not been easy for the team, given the unease of their fans.

Their first game against Seattle Sounders is crucial, as it is a knockout match in the round of 32 of the US Cup tournament. The Sounders currently hold second place in the Western Conference, placing them ahead of LAFC. The second match against the Earthquakes, who currently rank fourth in their conference, having secured a victory over the Black & Gold team led by Carlos Vela on Saturday.
