After beating Austin last week, it appeared that LA Galaxy had turned the corner after securing their first win of the 2023 Major League Soccer season. The most decorated side arrived in Miami in high spirits for the duel against Orlando City on Saturday afternoon at Exploria Stadium in search of two consecutive victories.

Unfortunately, the result did not match the pre-game optimism as the Galaxy lost 2-0 with goals scored for the local side by Ercan Kara (38) and Facundo Torres (57). The LA now has one win, three draws and five losses this season and languish is in the penultimate position in the Western Conference with just six points.

Chicharito on Galaxy plight

Sometimes that's how football is. We didn't play as well as we had in other games”, said Javier Hernández. "Losing 2-0 looks bad and there are no excuses. I don't think the situation is terrible, you know. Well the situation is terrible because we only have one win in the season," added the Galaxy captain.

The 34-year-old striker argues that the team is playing well and that the results simply haven’t come, but the season is very long. The Mexican remains confident that the team’s fortune will change and the team will fight for the title this year. The Galaxy are motivated but you have to be patient.

When we beat Austin I didn’t mean we’re back or that we’re going to fight for the title because you have to take things easy. Now it’s the same and that’s the only thing we can do. The season is long”, added Chicharito.

“There is a long season ahead and now we will have three home games, including the US Open Cup. So there is still a lot to play for. Riqui [Puig] didn’t play today and we know the impact he has on our team. But yes, we have to improve. We have to improve a lot and find that determination and motivation”, he commented.
