Cristian Arango is back in Major League Soccer. Real Salt Lake of Utah confirmed the Colombian striker as their new signing for the coming season. The attacker became one of the three franchise players for the club (along with Jefferson Savarino and Damir Kreilach), who currently sit in ninth position in the Western Conference with 19 points.

The American team bought the player who belonged to Pachuca, the club he has been with over the past few months. With Los Tuzos, Chicho Arango played 13 games in Liga MX and the Concachampions, participating in seven goals, scoring five and assisting two.

Real Salt Lake’s huge statement

A press release from the club said: Real Salt Lake has acquired 28-year-old Cristian ‘Chicho’ Arango via permanent transfer from Mexican side C.F. Pachuca on a three-year deal, with an option to extend for the 2026 MLS season... At halftime Saturday at America First Field, Arango and his family will be introduced to the anticipated 20,000+... RSL will present the Colombian international with his customary No. 9 jersey.

Arango scored 14 goals in 17 games for LAFC in 2021, earning 2021 MLS Newcomer of the Year and prompting his first-ever appearance for the Colombian National Team. The statement explains all of this, and more, in an incredibly long text on the website.

Arango was an LAFC star

“Across all competitions, Arango scored 35 goals in only 58 appearances for LAFC, establishing himself as a lethal finisher and perennial MVP candidate, the official communication said, although there is plenty more.

In his first stage in MLS, when he wore the Los Angeles FC jersey, Cristian Arango played 58 games in which he scored 35 goals and got 6 assists. RSL will be the seventh team in his carreer after wearing the shirts of Envigado, Millonarios, Desportivo Aves, Tondela and Pachuca. El Chicho will be the third Colombian in the Real Salt Lake squad after winger Brayan Vera and forward Carlos Andrés Gómez. Arango heads to Utah in fine form, having found the net in each of his last five games.
