Chivas are very close to a big club record
After thumping Club León at Estadio Akron on Wednesday, Chivas Guadalajara are closing in on a historic Liga MX feat.

This Wednesday, in a rescheduled Matchday 9 clash, Chivas Guadalajara routed Club León and reclaimed the top spot in the Clausura 2026 table.
Five different men were on the scoresheet at Estadio Akron, as Guadalajara won 5-0 to leapfrog Cruz Azul at the Liga MX summit.
Can Chivas beat their points record?
Gabriel Milito’s men now sit on 27 points after 11 matches, leaving them just seven points away from matching the club’s best regular‑season haul in the Mexican league’s short‑tournament era.
Chivas have reached the 34‑point mark twice before in short tournaments - first in the Clausura 2004 and again in the Clausura 2023.
On both occasions, El Rebaño Sagrado advanced all the way to the Liga MX final, only to fall short - first against Pumas in 2004, and later to Tigres in 2023.
Who are Chivas yet to play in the Clausura?
Milito’s Chivas still have six games left in the Clausura 2026 regular season:
- Mar. 21: Monterrey (a)
- Apr. 5: Pumas (h)
- Apr. 11: Tigres (a)
- Apr. 18: Puebla (h)
- Apr. 22: Necaxa (a)
- Apr. 25: Tijuana (h)
