Chivas consolidated their place in Group B of the Copa Sky, after they defeated Tigres in matchday 3 of the tournament that is acting as a perfect warm up prior to the start of the Clausura 2023. The 1-2 victory came despite the fact that the rojiblanco team rowed against the current for a large part of the duel that took place at the Estadio Universitario.

Chivas with late win over Tigres

Initially on top, the advantage was taken when Javier Aquino’s powerful shot from outside the box ended up in the bottom of the net on minute 31. From that moment on, Chivas’ play dropped, Tigres maintaining its dominance on the Universitario field at the beginning of the second half, and a good cross from the net saw a Isaac Brizuela effort unable to be saved just after the hour.

Everything pointed to the game ending in a tie, despite the fact that Rebaño Sagrado began to build pressure in the final moments, and it was a good collective move that put the second goal on the scoreboard. On the 89th minute, Lalo Torres received a ball in the center, which he fired home.

This result leaves Chivas on top of the group with nine points from nine, while Tigres only have four, like Atlas.
