We are a few days away from the most important game in Liga MX this tournament and the stakes are high when Club América plays against Chivas de Guadalajara. The two most popular teams in Mexican soccer and the two with the most titles will clash on Saturday at Estadio Azteca.

Offense vs. defense

América are the most dominant team in Liga MX this campaign and last weekend broke a club record after achieving nine consecutive victories from matchday 7 to 14. Not only have Las Águilas found ways to win games, but they are also the team that has scored the most goals (31) after 14 fixtures.

So Chivas will have a tough task to stop the most powerful offense in Liga MX in the 245th edition of the Súper Clásico. The good news is that Chivas have the best defense so far this campaign and after 14 games have only conceded nine goals. Also, the other five teams with the most goals besides América have only been able to score one goal when playing against Chivas.

The last team from the top six places that was able to score against El Rebaño was Santos Laguna on 16 July during matchday 3, in a 1-1 draw at Estadio Nuevo Corona. Chivas usually line up with two center backs and two full backs, but in some games they have used three center backs and two full backs, depending on the rival.

The players that have seen the most minutes in Chivas’ backline are Gilberto Sepulveda, Luis Olivas and Jesús Orozco. They have been a constant in the lineup this tournament and have gained the trust of head coach Ricardo Cadena.
