After a hugely disappointing season which ended in Chivas being eliminated from the 2022 Apertura at the wildcard round, the board of directors decided to make drastic changes and begin to build for the 2023 Clausura campaign. Sporting Director Ricardo Peláez was relieved of his services making way for Spaniard Fernando Hierro.

Speaking to TUDN, the Chivas owner was extremely happy with the new addition of the Spaniard and added that he is motivated to deliver titles for the club. “It is important that Hierro speaks frankly about what he sees at Chivas, so that the fans and the media can get to know what he is about”, commented the rojiblanco owner.

I am very excited and feel that in Fernando, the club have backed a proven winner. I am going to give him all the necessary tools at our disposal” he explained.

My job is to demand that he brings glory back to Chivas, the fans are desperate for success and it’s important that we seek that goal and I’m sure we’re going to achieve it”, added the president of Deportivo Guadalajara.

Clausura 2023

The club are plotting ahead of the next season which commences in early January with the trio of Jesús Molina, Miguel Ponce and head coach Ricardo Cadena the first to exit the Akron Stadium.

Hierro now begins the task of finding a new manager with many linking Jose Bordalas (former Getafe and Valencia coach) with the position at the Liga MX sider.

Chivas will travel to Spain to play both Athletic Club and Getafe in December as part of their pre-season work for the 2023 Clausura.
