Update:

Gabriel Milito’s Guadalajara may have come out smiling after their thrilling win over Club América in the Clásico Nacional, but the celebration didn’t come without a cost. Saturday’s 2–1 victory lifted spirits across the squad, yet it also delivered a significant setback: Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado has been ruled out for Wednesday’s clash against Tigres.

Why is Chivas’s Alvarado missing the Tigres game?

The midweek fixture, a rescheduled match from the opening round of the Apertura 2025, will see Chivas take on Tigres without one of their most influential attacking players. Alvarado suffered an ankle injury during the heated battle against Las Águilas and hasn’t recovered in time to be included in the squad.

“During El Clásico de México, Roberto Alvarado sustained an injury to his right ankle and was forced to leave the pitch. Upon returning to Guadalajara, he underwent imaging tests. Given how the injury has progressed, further exams will be conducted to assess his condition. In the meantime, he will not be available for the match against Tigres,” the club announced Tuesday afternoon.

And Alvarado isn’t the only absence Milito will have to contend with. The match was originally postponed due to poor field conditions following the installation of a new pitch, and several key players remain sidelined.

Alan Mozo, Daniel Aguirre, and Alan Pulido are still undergoing their respective recovery processes and will not be available for the game against Tigres,” Chivas confirmed.

On a more positive note, Guadalajara could see the return of a player who was instrumental during preseason but has been out since Matchday 3. “The list of available players for the Tigres match includes some updates. After several weeks out with injury, Omar Govea is back in the squad and could see minutes on Wednesday,” the club added.

This is Chivas’s roster to face Tigres:

Raúl Rangel, Oscar Whalley, Miguel Gómez, Richard Ledezma, Gilberto Sepúlveda, Miguel Tapias, Diego Campillo, José Castillo, Bryan González, Luis Romo, Rubén González, Erick Gutiérrez, Omar Govea, Efraín Álvarez, Isaac Brizuela, Cade Cowell, Hugo Camberos, Yael Padilla, Santiago Sandoval, Javier Hernández, Armando González, and Teun Wilke.
