Chivas striker Armando González inching towards historic club record
Armando González has scored 20 goals this season and is just one away from equaling Chicharito Hernández’s historic record.

Chivas forward Armando González is having a season to remember. The 2025–2026 campaign has already delivered 20 goals for the red‑and‑white standout, putting him at the top of the league’s scoring charts and ahead of teammates and rivals like Víctor Guzmán, José Juan Macías, and Roberto Alvarado. He currently shares the league lead with two other players.

One goal away from matching Chicharito’s benchmark
González is now on the verge of tying one of the most iconic scoring seasons in Chivas history: Javier “Chicharito” Hernández’s 21‑goal, 7‑assist performance across 28 matches in the 2009–2010 season — the breakout year that launched Chicharito to Europe.
With 20 goals already, González needs just one more to match Chicharito’s mark. He’s also chasing another milestone: becoming the first back‑to‑back scoring champion in Guadalajara’s history after winning the Golden Boot last tournament.

Strong form in the Clausura 2026
In the current Clausura 2026, González has scored eight goals, placing him second in the scoring race behind Joao Pedro, who has 10. His consistency has made him a central piece of Chivas’ attack.
This past weekend, González delivered a crucial brace against Santos Laguna, helping Chivas regain momentum and stay firmly in the hunt for both the league title and the scoring crown.
