Chivas Guadalajara striker Armando “Hormiga” González is putting together a historic campaign, having already scored 22 goals in the 2025–26 season.

With his current scoring pace, González now sits just six goals shy of the club’s single-season record of 27, set by Jaime Pajarito in 1980-81.

The 22-year-old has already surpassed the best single‑season tallies of club legends like Omar Bravo and Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, who recorded 22 and 21 goals respectively in their top campaigns. González is firmly establishing himself as one of the most efficient finishers in Chivas history.

A milestone in goal‑scoring efficiency

The forward also set another major milestone by becoming the player who needed the fewest matches to reach 20 career goals, hitting the number in just 45 games. That beats the 55 games “Chicharito” required, underscoring González’s immediate impact.

The upcoming schedule poses a significant challenge for González, with matchups against Pumas, Tigres, Puebla, Necaxa, and Club Tijuana. These next five fixtures will determine whether he can equal - or surpass - the club’s all‑time scoring record.

2026 World Cup dream

González’s remarkable form has also pushed him firmly into contention for a spot on the Mexico national team coached by Javier Aguirre, who is preparing to name his roster for this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Each goal now not only brings him closer to Chivas history, but also to fulfilling the dream of representing Mexico on the game’s biggest stage.
