Tigres
Robert Siboldi guided Tigres to a seventh-placed finish in the regular phase. The team followed that up by beating Puebla by the minimum in the repechaje and edged both of their next ties against Toluca and Rayados. Brazilian centre-back Samir Caetano was a regular starter during the league tournament but has hardly featured since the quarter finals. He is now over the hamstring injury that kept him out of the return leg against Monterrey and both legs of the semis; he watched last week’s first leg against Chivas from the bench and it remains to be seen if Siboldi will field him from the start on Sunday. Igor Lichnovsky is an option to partner Diego Reyes in the back four or captain Guido Pizarro, who dropped back in the first leg.
Chivas
Out of the two finalists, Chivas enjoyed the better regular season. Paunovic’s team finished third as the top scorers in the league (36 goals for) and qualified directly to the quarter finals.
They beat Atlas and América on their way to the final. They also won their meeting with Tigres during the regular season - Gilberto Sepúlveda and Ronaldo Cisneros found the net in the 1-2 win on matchday 9 back in February. There is only one player on the casualty list - left winger Carlos Cisneros suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee during the semi-final against América. Alexis Vegas is expected to line up in his place. Otherwise, Guadalajara will be at full strength
