Christian Eriksen completes move to Manchester United
Manchester United has officially announced the signing of Christian Eriksen to a three-year deal and Ten Hag’s comments could indicate his position.
Free agent Christian Eriksen has officially completed the move to Manchester United, signing a three-year deal with the club. Eriksen left Brentford at the end of the season after playing 11 games and scoring one goal. Brentford finished 13th in the Premier League in their first season in the top flight.
Tottenham Hotspur was interested in Eriksen as well, but United scooped him up when Tottenham manager Antonio Conte backed out of a deal. This makes Manchester United’s new manager, Erik Ten Hag’s second signing, after picking up Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

Ten Hag has a vision for United, and it includes an upgrade at the midfield position. Eriksen has played multiple positions during his time at Tottenham and Brentford.
In his last press conference, Ten Hag said this of Donny van de Beek: “He can do both [play deep and high]. I know that from the past. His best position is in the box of the opponent and playing just behind the striker. He has a really good smell for being in the right position.”
That could mean that Eriksen would play deeper, like he did with Brentford. He could play more as a center-midfielder, attacking from the middle. As Ten Hag’s rebuild of Manchester United comes together more and more, we are getting a clearer idea of how the team will line up.
