Christian Pulisic and Gio Reyna back in action in the Champions League
The United States men’s national team players returned to the pitch with their respective teams after overcoming their injuries.
Good news for the United States men’s national team ahead of the first international window of the year, because two of their best players are back in action. Christian Pulisic and Gio Reyna made an appearance in the UEFA Champions League with their respective teams during the second leg of the round of 16.
Captain America is back
Pulisic suffered a serious knee injury in January and was sidelined for almost two months, which prevented him from leaving Chelsea during the winter transfer window. The USMNT ace has finally reached full fitness and saw his first minutes in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.
This was his first appearance for the Premier League side since Jan. 5 and he replaced Mateo Kovacic on the 83rd minute. Pulisic is slowly getting back to peak form and has to regain the trust of manager Graham Potter to land a spot in the starting lineup, especially with the signings João Félix and Mykhailo Mudryk.
Gio Reyna went the full 90 minutes
Gio Reyna also made his first appearance since Feb. 11 and he came in as a substitute early in the game due to Julian Brandt’s injury. The German international was replaced in the fourth minute by the USMNT ace, who played for the first time in five matches across all competitions.
