Christian Pulisic’s first Derby della Madonnina was one to forget
The win over their great rivals sees Inter maintain their unbeaten record this season.
Inter fans have early bragging rights in the city of Milan this season after thrashing their fierce rivals on a wet Saturday evening at San Siro.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan gave Inter an early lead when he scored after just five minutes to set the ball rolling.
Inter forward Marcus Thuram then cut inside to score a goal he will never forget after he unleashed an effort from the edge of the area that flew past netminder Mike Maignan in the Milan goal.
Rafael Leão gave Milan hope when he made it 2-1 just before the hour-mark but Inter went on to find the back of the net three more times through Mkhitaryan, Hakan Çalhanoğlu (P) and Davide Frattesi in stoppage time to record a huge win in the Derby della Madonnina.
Pulisic’s contribution
Former Villarreal creator Samuel Chukwueze replaced USMNT forward Christian Pulisic in the 56th minute of the game on Saturday. It wasn’t the derby day experience Pulisic would have imagined before kick-off as his side struggled to impose themselves in the Serie A clash of the weekend.
Inter’s 100% record
The win sees Inter maintain their unbeaten record this season. Simone Inzaghi’s side have collected all 12 points from their opening four Serie A games.
