Christophe Galtier explains Kylian Mbappé's dip in form at PSG
Kylian Mbappé played the full 90 minutes for PSG on Saturday but failed to score.
Paris Saint-Germain recorded a 2-0 win over OGC Nice on Saturday night to restore their six-point lead at the top of Ligue 1.
Former LaLiga stars Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos scored either side of half-time to give the league leaders the three points over Didier Digard’s side.
Kylian Mbappé played the full 90 minutes on Saturday but failed to make the expected impact in attack and PSG boss Christophe Galtier has given his thoughts on the forward’s dip in form.
No goals in three for Mbappé
Mbappé has scored 19 goals in 26 league appearances this season, however, the 24-year-old hasn’t scored in his last three league games, with PSG only picking up three points from the nine available.
“Kylian may have played his 51st or 52nd game. It is normal that at certain times you don’t feel as good,” explained Galtier.
“He had to shorten his training session [on Friday due to a hip problem]. He was very uncertain. I think he played at a reduced level but wanted to be on the pitch and be with the team,” he added.
“It also shows his state of mind, a certain solidarity. He didn’t have an easy game. But this morning, we didn’t know if he was going to be able to start the game.
“He had this great desire, this determination to do it. This is a strong sign for the team.”
