Chucky Lozano and Santiago Giménez’s respective Champions League and Europa League adventures

Hirving Lozano and Santiago Giménez are the only Mexican players left in European competitions this season. On Friday, the draws for the quarter-finals of both the Champions League and the Europa League were made, where the teams learned their fate.

Champions League: Chucky Lozano

In the Champions League, the only Mexican player who is still playing is Lozano with Napoli. Spalletti’s team are one of the best sides in Europe right now and Lozano has a leading role in the Italian team that are hoping to go as far as possible in the competition and win Serie A.

All-Italian clash

Napoli take on Milan in the quarter-finals of the Champions League: a mouthwatering tie between two Italian clubs. The first leg will be played at the San Siro on Wednesday 12 April, while the return leg will be played at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona on Tuesday 18 April.

The winner of this tie will face the winner of Benfica-Inter, so there is the possibility of another meeting between Italian teams in the semi-finals.

Europa League: Santiago Giménez

In the Europa League, Santiago Giménez on fire. The Mexican striker scored in Feyenoord’s win over Shakhtar to reach five goals in the tournament and be in contention to be the top scorer in the competition. With his five goals, he is only behind Marcus Rashford who has six.

Feyenoord will play against Roma in the quarter-finals. The first leg will take place on Thursday 13 April in the Netherlands, while the return leg will be played on Thursday 20 April on Italian soil.

The team advancing from this tie will play the winner of Bayer Leverkusen and Union Saint-Gilloise.
