City players believe Haaland will break Premier League scoring record

Erling Haaland scores goals - it’s just what he does. His team knows it, and they’re confident that he will break the EPL scoring record.

It’s more of a “when” than an “if” Erling Haaland will break the record for scoring in a season in the Premier League. The Manchester City striker currently has 32 goals for the season with eight games still left to play. Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole currently share the record with 34 goals in one season.

City players confident in Haaland

Haaland’s teammates have no doubts that he will break the EPL scoring record and are looking forward to witnessing it. Two goals in eight games are pretty good odds. He has scored 224 goals in 264 games.

“He’s so driven to score. I think you can see that - he’s always making runs in the box, always wants to be there for the finish and I see the determination from him,” said City midfielder Phil Foden.

Echoing that sentiment, defender Rodri said, “If he keeps in the same shape, in the same run, he can do it.”

Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who’s set up seven of Haaland’s goals so far this season, has no doubts that Haaland will break the record.

“He definitely can. Why? Because he just scores goals and it’s his strong point, obviously,” said De Bruyne. “Will he do it? Probably, if we create enough chances for him, then he will probably do it.”

“I think he’ll do it,” said former City player Nedem Onuoha. “I’m looking forward to potentially watching the game when he does it. And hopefully if he stays healthy, stays fit, and City continue to be on the run that they’re on at this moment in time, then I think he does it and sets the mark for the future.”
