Club América make high profile Kheira Hamraoui signing
The move to the Mexican capital for the French international was confirmed via the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol portal.
Club América Femenil have delivered one of the biggest signings of this Apertura 2023 with Kheira Hamraoui moving to Coapa. The 33-year-old French international will bolster the América midfield with her enormous offensive quality and experience.
When was the announcement made official?
During the halftime break at El Clasico Nacional between the América and Chivas, the former Champions League winner was officially presented by the azulcrema team as a new high profile recruit and with all going to plan, Hamraoui should be able to make her debut for the CDMX team in the matchday 12 game against Pachuca.
Who is Kheira Hamraoui?
The 33-year-old has enjoyed spells in the past with the likes of Olympique Lyon, FC Barcelona (where she played alongside Andrea Pereira), as well as more recently with Paris Saint-Germain, Hamraoui has three UEFA Champions League winners medals to her name (two with Lyon and one with Barça) and is undoubtedly one of the most recent high profile additions not only for the Águilas, but for the entire Liga MX Femenil.
Hamraoui, however did hit the headlines in recent years for the wrong reasons as she claimed to be the victim of a knife attack with her assailant reportedly hitting the player on the legs with metal bars. At first there was talk about a problem with a teammate at PSG, although later an investigation revealed problems with her ex-partner and also former Barça player Eric Abidal.
