Pachuca have been crowned champions and it is time to look back at the Apertura 2022 campaign. Pachuca forward Nicolás Ibáñez was the overall top scorer, hitting the net 16 times as his side won the title.
Club América striker Henry Martín finished the season as second highest scorer with 13 goals, 10 in the regular season and three in the play-offs. He also provided six assists, seeing him top the list of players who contributed the most goals and assists.
Martín stands out for having a strong season and is one of the four strikers who have been included in the preliminary list of 31 Mexico players that are preparing for the World Cup. América were unable to lift the title, despite being considered one of the favourites this year.
Gignac finishes with 11 goals
Arturo González and Martín Barragán also proved their worth in the 2022 campaign. Barragán is an underrated player, who since his emergence from the Atlas youth academy, has had to play in different teams, and Apertura 2022 was the best season of his career. González has finally shown his maturity and everything indicates that the best of his career is yet to come. French forward André-Pierre Gignac notched 11 goals for Tigres, coming third in the goalscoring charts for the season.
