Club América has become the most dominant team in Liga MX this tournament and they have won nine consecutive games to break a club record. There are only three games left in the regular season and the Eagles want to secure first place in the standings and extend their winning streak to 12 going into the playoffs.

Goal scoring machine

The team managed by Fernando ‘Tano’ Ortíz has scored 31 goals in 14 matches during the current campaign and they scored 24 in the 2022 Clausura tournament earlier this year with a total of 55 goals. América started the campaign with a 0-0 draw against Atlas, but on matchday 2 they found the back of the net twice in the 3-2 defeat over Monterrey.

The following matchday, the Eagles defeated Toluca 1-0 but failed to score in the following fixture, a 2-0 defeat against Club Tijuana. América struggled to find a rhythm early in the tournament as they suffered their second consecutive defeat against Léon but they scored twice in the 3-2 loss.

Since then, the Eagles have been flying high and become unstoppable. From matchday seven to matchday 14, América has scored 26 goals in nine games. They defeated Juárez 2-1, Pumas UNAM 3-0, Pachuca 3-0, Cruz Azul 7-0, Querétaro 1-0, Mazatlán 3-1, Tigres UANL 2-1, San Luis 3-0 and Necaxa 2-1.

América has become a feared opponent when playing away from home, scoring 16 goals so far this campaign compared to the 15 they netted when playing at Estadio Azteca. The Eagles have three games left before the start of the playoffs and will look to increase these numbers to win their 14th Liga MX title.
