It’s official, the United States will be part of Pot 1 in the Copa América draw to be held on Thursday in Miami. CONMEBOL confirmed on Friday how the four groups will be formed to determine the groups for next summer’s tournament.
Argentina, as reigning Copa América champions, will be in Group A, while Group B will be led by CONCACAF Gold Cup champions Mexico.
The United States will be seeded in Group C, after CONMEBOL granted that place to the best team in CONCACAF according to the recently updated FIFA rankings in which the USMNT are ranked 14th.
Group D will be led by Brazil, who are ranked as the best team in CONMEBOL according to the FIFA world rankings.
