Could Liverpool sign Hirving Lozano?
Lozano’s fine performances for Napoli have led to interest in the Mexican international from several European clubs, including Liverpool.
One of the Mexican national team’s star men at the Qatar 2022 World Cup was Hirving Lozano, who put in some impressive displays under the command of the now-departed Gerardo Martino. Despite the fact that El Tri didn’t get out of their group in Qatar, several players are being closely tracked by European clubs, including Lozano, who could end up in the Premier League next season.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and The Mirror, Liverpool are monitoring the Pachuca academy product’s situation at Napoli with a view to signing him next summer, when they expect Lozano to be available for a reduced fee with his contract at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona set to end in 2024.
How much would Liverpool have to spend on Hirving Lozano?
A few days ago, the Italian press announced that ‘Chucky’ has no intention of signing a new deal in Naples as he isn’t willing to accept a wage cut. With this in mind, Gli Azzuri are looking to recoup some of the money that they spent on the Mexican international and are prepared to sell him in the coming months.
Lozano’s signing is one of the most expensive in Napoli’s history, with the Italian side paying €40 million ($42.54 million) to PSV Eindhoven. According to Transfermarkt, a website specialising in transfers and market values, Lozano’s current value has dropped to €28 million ($29.78 million), which means Napoli are likely to have to sell him for significantly less than they paid for him.
Lozano has played in two World Cups and scored once, against Germany in the 2018 tournament. As things stand, he will be one of the figureheads for El Tri at the 2026 World Cup, which Mexico will host along with the United States and Canada.
