Counting down to a Brazil-Portugal 2022 World Cup final?

According to Gracenote, a statistical probabilities tool created by Nielsen, Tite’s Brazil are favorites to win the Qatar World Cup.

Eight teams remain in contention at the the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but according to Gracenote we’re heading for a Brazil and Portugal final on 18 December.

Gracenote is a statistical probabilities tool created by data experts Nielsen and when studying the World Cup quarterfinals, there are only 16 possible finals left with the tool deeming that the most likely outcome set to pit Brazil against Fernando Santos’ Portugal with a 11.9% chance of this matchup happening.

In second place of possible finalists at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on the 18th is Brazil-France, with 10.6% probability, ahead of third and fourth placed possibilities in Brazil-England (9.7%) and Argentina-Portugal (9.4%).

Brazil heading for sixth star?

Brazil remain (as they have done throughout the World Cup), remain the firm favorite to be crowned world champions according to Gracenote with the probability of the Seleçao winning the title in Qatar 2022 being 25% ahead of Argentina on 20%.

Portugal hold a 13% chance of winning the World Cup with fellow Europeans, Netherlands and France (both on 11%) ahead of England on 10.

Gracenote predicts that the semifinals will be composed of: Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and France. We will have to wait to Saturday night when the final quarter-final game is completed to see if just how much of Gracenote’s intelligence is indeed ‘artificial’.
