Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be the main talking point in the daily news concerning Atlético Madrid. The Portuguese star wants to find a new club and Atleti is, at this time, his best bet. However, not everyone would be happy about him joining. Some Rojiblanco fans haven’t forgotten Cristiano’s Real Madrid past and still hold grudges for what his role in some of Atleti’s most painful defeats.

A section of fans made their disagreement clear in the first friendly match of the pre-season against Numancia in El Burgo de Osma. Behind one of the goals, a group of supporters unfurled a banner that read: “CR7 not welcome”. A forceful message which, apart from going around the globe, even reached the Manchester United player. Fortunately, he could see the funny side.

A Cristiano Ronaldo fan account published the photo of the banner on Instagram and the footballer himself responded with four emojis crying with laughter. A reaction that clearly shows that, if he finally does sign, the harmony between the player and the fans will be conspicuous by its absence - at least at first...

“Someday, they will get the news right”

Cristiano continued to be very active on his social networks and also had time to respond to another fan account that published a photo of him with the following message: “Jorge Mendes told Manchester United Ronaldo is adamant about leaving the club - but left negotiations less than positive he’d get his move. Sir Alex Ferguson has intervened and United insist Ronaldo is not for sale.”

The Portuguese forward took no prisoners in his response: “It’s impossible for them not to talk about me for one day, otherwise the press doesn’t make money.
