Cristiano Ronaldo “could be presented at Roma next week”
Cristiano Ronaldo could be reunited with Jose Mourinho. Roma, According to several former players, Roma are negotiating a deal.
Roma are preparing to make a massive statement in the transfer window, to the Premier League and to Manchester United. According to former Roma player, Angelo Di Livio, on Retesport’s 1927 program, Roma are planning to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star and his agent, Jorge Mendes, also held a meeting with Chelsea to discuss his future. But now it appears that Di Livio’s old club Roma are in pole position to sign the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward.
“I know from various sources that Roma are trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and July 7 could be the date of the announcement. It’s a bit tactless, but the rumour has been circulating for a while in the football world. By chance, I spoke with a friend who works on television and who found out about the negotiations for Cristiano from an important club manager at a dinner a few days ago,” Di Livio explained.
The date, 7 July, has been chosen for a reason - due to its numerical significance. Cristiano is associated with the number seven - it is the number which he wore during the best years of his career at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and still wears with Portugal.
Fabio Petruzzi also mentioned a specific date. “I have it on good authority, from a highly accredited person, that Roma are trying to get Cristiano Ronaldo by all means. Details will have to be ironed out, for image rights, but I know he will leave United”, he said.
Working with Mourinho once again
Through the years, Jose Mourinho has been a rival to Cristiano Ronaldo and also his coach. They worked together for the first time at Real Madrid - Mourinho took the Madrid coaching job in 2010, one year after Cristiano’s arrival from Manchester United.
Together they won LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. They worked together as player and coach for a total of 164 games (14,271 minutes) - figures only surpassed by Cristiano time at United working under Sir Alex Ferguson in terms of minutes on the field. Under Mou, Cristiano’s figures were unequalled - 168 goals and 49 assists.
After winning the first edition of the Europa Conference League, Mourinho wants to continue Roma’s successful run by signing another serial winner in Cristiano Ronaldo. A journey between capitals - from Madrid to Rome.
