Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Al Nassr this summer

Two years on from his move to the Saudi Pro League, CR7 is reportedly unhappy with the team’s on-field performance.

Approaching the halfway point in his third season with Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo looks unlikely to end the team’s wait for a tenth Saudi Pro League title year. The team sit fourth in the league, behind Al Ittihad, Al Hilal and Al Qadisiyah.

Ronaldo has continued his impressive form in 2024/25, taking his tally to 74 goals in 83 games for Al Nassr. But with his current contract set to expire in June 2025 there is talk that CR7 could be considering a move away.

CNN in Portugal reports that Ronaldo is contemplating his future with Al Nassr, who have not found consistent success during his time there. To date, his only trophy with Al Nassr is the 2023 Arab Champions Cup.

The Portuguese icon will turn 40 in February and will want to give himself the best chance of adding to his vast silverware collection in the final years of his career. With 916 goals to his name the prospect of becoming the first player to reach 1,000 professional goals remains, incredibly, within reach.

Cristiano Ronaldo contract length and salary details

When Ronaldo left Manchester United under a cloud in January 2022 he became one of the first global stars to sign with a Saudi club. His signing was a watershed moment in the history of Saudi soccer and the state-funded Al Nassr had to offer an enormous financial package to secure his signature.

He signed two-and-a-half-year contract worth $200 million per year with Al Nassr, comfortably the biggest of its kind in all of sport at the time.

As he enters the final six months of that record-breaking deal his future in Saudi Arabia looks uncertain. In theory, he is now able to negotiate a new deal with clubs outside of the Saudi Pro League. Leaving without a championship would be a major disappointment for all concerned but CR7 will be eager to maximise the time that he has left in the professional game.
