Although it feels as if never a day goes by without current Saudi Pro League star Cristiano Ronaldo being spotted on a luxury yacht somewhat in the world with partner Georgina Rodríguez and their children, the Portuguese icon rarely gets much down time even while on vacation, whether it comes to maintaining his physical fitness or working on his latest business venture.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest business venture

On Monday, Spanish daily El País reported that he has made an offer to take over the Cofina media conglomorate, who run a number of newspapers and magazines in his home country, as well as the Correio da Manhã TV channel.

That includes a newspaper also by the name of Correio da Manhã, which Ronaldo has refused to speak to and indeed taken to court on more than one occasion due to rumours it has spread about him over the years. Becoming the owner, along with ten other potential shareholders, would be a simple way to solve that problem.

Correio da Manhã: Portugal’s best-selling newspaper

Although there are other offers on the table for Cofina, Ronaldo could be about to take over Portugal’s most circulated daily paper, which has caused him no end of trouble in the past. One particularly high-profile incident saw the former Real Madrid star throw a microphone belonging to an interviewer from Correio da Manhã TV into a lake after an ill-advised question during the European Championships in France in 2016.

Other disputes have centred around stories related to Ronaldo allegedly renovating his luxury house in Lisbon without the approval of the city council, an interview published with the former nanny of his eldest son after she was fired, and a piece which claimed he was forced to pay compensation for harassing a minor on social media.

Correio da Manhã also reported that Real Madrid had instructed the striker to sign a confidentiality agreement with Kathryn Mayorga, the model who had accused him of sexual assault in Las Vegas, and claimed his mother Dolores Aveiro had resorted to witchcraft rituals to cause a split between her son and Rodríguez.

In recent times, Ronaldo has refused to answer questions from Cofina group reporters at press conferences and had taken legal action against them to defend his right to privacy. The company is valued at €75 million (just over $83 million).
