Cruz Azul great offers to take coaching post
Christián Giménez says he is at the club’s disposal and explained how hurt he felt after the 0-4 defeat to Pumas.
Cruz Azul are going through a very difficult moment in the Liga MX under coach Joaquín Moreno. La Máquina currently sit sixteenth in the general table and suffered a painful 1-4 defeat to Pumas at the weekend. Former player Christián Giménez, who spent eight years at the club, has raised his hand to take the reins of his beloved team.
In the middle of the investiture event of the Pachuca Hall of Fame, Chaco took time to give his opinion on the current state of play a Cruz Azul and said he would be only too happy to go back to coach the team: “Yes, of course, obviously I would love the Cruz Azul job. Football is my profession and I prepare and train every day. It is a club that I know a lot about. I hope it happens at some point and if not I will continue preparing and training for when the opportunity presents itself,” he told reporters.
Pending opportunity
The former Pachuca player also noted the quality that the current coach Joaquín Moreno has: “It’s a complex situation. I am a very positive person in the face of adversity, but I had to watch the game against Pumas and it hurt me to see the team lose like that because it was a derby. People want things to work differently. I have a lot of confidence in Joaquín Moreno’s ability, but the tournament is progressing and we are not seeing what we all want,” he concluded.
Chaco won two titles in one of the darkest eras of the capital team. A Copa MX in 2013 and a Concacaf Champions League in 2014.
