On Sunday, Egyptian side Pyramids FC edged out Mamelodi Sundowns for a 3-2 aggregate AFC Champions League win and in doing so, securing their first ever major title.
Cruz Azul wrapped up the Concacaf Champions Cup title on Sunday night with a 5-0 defeat of Vancouver Whitecaps in Mexico City and with the win, secure a place at the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup and also a ticket to the 2025 Intercontinental Cup.

Who participates in the Intercontinental Cup?
The Intercontinental Cup acts as mini Club World Cup, a short tournament featuring the champions of the Americas, Oceania, South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. Currently, the teams that have qualified are Paris Saint-Germain (UEFA Champions League), Al-Ahli (AFC Elite Champions League), Pyramids (CAF Champions League), Auckland City (OFC Champions League), and Cruz Azul (CONCACAF Champions Cup) with just the Copa Libertadores (CONMEBOL) to be decided.

When and against whom do they debut?
The Concacaf Champions League representatives (Cruz Azul) advance directly to the second round and play the 2025 Copa Libertadores champion.
At present, no definitive dates or venue have been confirmed for the tournament with the 2024 edition being staged in Qatar in mid December.
The final of the 2025 Copa Libertadores final is scheduled for November 29th in Lima and it’s expected that the 2025 Intercontinental will have a similar timeframe as last year’s edition.
