Former Real Madrid star David Beckham has given countryman Jude Bellingham some advice on how to succeed in Spain in an interview with Sports Illustrated. According to the current Inter Miami owner, there are some simple steps that will ensure the England midfielder prospers at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu:

“First, learn the language. Enjoy yourself. Get to know your teammates and have fun. It’s Real Madrid!”.

And the 20-year-old has already taken steps towards following Beckham’s advice after signing for the 14-time Champions League winners. In a chat with PA Media, Bellingham revealed that he studied Spanish at school but has now decided to “get serious” about his language learning using a mobile app, claiming Spanish was “much easier” than German, which he had to get to grips with after moving to Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham also revealed that Beckham had sent him a brief message to wish him luck ahead of his spell in the Spanish capital. And he has been spotted following another piece of the ex-Manchester United player’s advice in a number of social media posts in recent days, in which he has appeared laughing and joking with several of his new teammates.

Will Bellingham surpass Beckham’s Real Madrid record?

Although Bellingham is Real Madrid’s statement signing of the 2023 summer transfer window and cost an initial €103 million, there has still been significant less fanfare surrounding his arrival compared to Beckham’s. No English player has appeared in more games for Los Blancos than Beckham, who pulled on the famous white jersey 150 times, scoring 20 goals and assisting another 52.
