Frenkie de Jong will not play against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday. Xavi, aware of the very tough month of October ahead for Barça, preferred not to take any risks and left the Dutch midfielder at home. The thigh injury suffered by De Jong is not serious, but last year the player was unable to perform to the levels demanded for months, due to physical problems and Xavi does not want that to happen again this season. That is why he will not travel to Milan.

Defensive issues for Xavi ahead of Champions League test

The Barça squad is otherwise unchanged from the one that beat Mallorca on Saturday. Araújo, Koundé, Memphis and Bellerín are still out, and Casadó comes in. Barça arrived in Milan at midday on Monday, where they will be staying at the NH Collection Milano CityLife hotel, close to the San Siro. At 7pm (CEST) they will train at the San Siro. At 18:15, Marcos Alonso and Xavi will speak with the media. The big question on Tuesday is whether Xavi will play with a back three or a back four.
