Decisive week for Mbappé at PSG: Kane considered as Real Madrid watch on
Mbappé's time at PSG could be entering its final phase. The French club are considering Kane as a possible replacement for the France captain.
Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid is entering a decisive week and the events of the last few hours could accelerate things as the player is still under pressure.
The latest to voice his opinion on Mbappé was Leonardo. The former sporting director of the French club spoke to L’Equipe about the 24-year-old. “He is not yet a player capable of really guiding a team, he is a great player, but not a leader,” he said.
“He is a great forward, not a playmaker. It’s difficult to build a team around him. For the good of PSG, it’s time for him to leave. PSG existed before Mbappé and will exist after him.
“Kylian has been in Paris for six years and in those years five different clubs have won the Champions League. None of them had Mbappé in their ranks.”
Mbappé's future in doubt
The conflict between the player and PSG continues. Mbappé is continuing his summer tour, far from any kind of controversy. Having been in Miami, he visited his father’s country, Cameroon, for a few days, and will soon land in Algeria, his mother’s country.
He is scheduled to return to PSG’s Camp des Loges on Monday 17 July, four days before the club’s first friendly of the summer. Mbappé will not play on 21 July, but having him sidelined from match-related activities would raise more questions. All the more so because just the day after, on the 22nd, PSG go on a summer tour of Japan. Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is hoping not to reach this critical date without having resolved the Mbappé case.
Kane move
Reports in France also suggest there could be a PSG bid for Harry Kane as a replacement for the French star. If it happens, they would like to show off their new signing on the Japanese tour. The countdown to the resolution of the Mbappé-PSG case and his possible arrival at Madrid is gathering pace.
