The Argentine forward contributed just a couple of goals in the Apertura 2023. Nacional are keen to take him to Montevideo.

Pumas are busy restructuring the squad in preparation for the next tournament. The club has already released players such as Juan Ignacio Dinenno and Gabriel Fernández but others need to move on to make room for new reinforcements before the Clausura 2024 starts in little over a fortnight’s time. There is a strong possibility that the club will strengthen the team’s attack before the transfer window closes.

According to Fox Sports reporter Rodrigo Tovar, Pumas are considering releasing Gustavo del Prete a player who, during the year and a half he has spent at the club has scored just seven goals. During the recent Apertura 2023, the Argentinean managed two goals in 18 appearances.

It’s for that reason Pumas are considering an offer from Nacional Montevideo for Del Prete, who has another 18 months left on his contract. Selling the 27-year-old would allow them to give playing time to their most recent signing, Piero Quispe.

Nacional are not the only clubs that have shown an interest in Del Prete - Peñarol and Racing Avellaneda also have the player in their orbit. However, as of the moment, none of the offers that the Auriazules have on the table have been finalized.

Memo Martínez close

Meanwhile, Pumas continue to show an interest in Guillermo Martínez - one of the protagonists in the last tournament. Memo finished as Puebla’s top scorer with 11 goals and the tournament’s second behind Harold Preciado. Negotiations continue for the 28-year-old.
