Diber Cambindo’s promise to deliver for Cruz Azul
The Colombian scored one and set up Moisés Vieira in La Máquina’s first victory of the Apertura 2023.
Cruz Azul’s drought in the Apertura 2023 finally came to an end with a 1-2 victory over Monterrey on Sunday night. In one of the best displays they have shown so far this year, Ingeniero Moreno’s men completely neutralized the second most expensive squad in the Liga MX. One of the key figures of the match was Diber Cambindo, who opened the scoring on nine minutes and assisted Moisés Vieira for the winner.
It was Cambindo’s second goal since joining La Máquina and the third time that the Colombian recorded a goal and an assist in the same game - a feat he achieved previously with his former club, Independiente Medellín.
Time to settle in
At the end of last night’s game, Cambindo spoke to TUDN and admitted that he still needs some time to completely adjust to his new team. He asked the fans to be patient with him.
“There is a lot of media attention at a club like Cruz Azul where they don’t wait for anyone. [...] Some of us who arrived still don’t know Mexican soccer that well. I have come here to give everything I can to the team, I will keep contributing to help the team,” he said.
