Did Christian Pulisic do the Trump dance after scoring for USMNT?

American soccer’s darling could be joining the growing list of sport stars emulating the new president-elect of the country.

The USMNT comfortably secured passage to the semi-finals of the CONCACAF with a 5-2 aggregate win over Jamaica.

Star boy Christian Pulisic, building off his fine form in Italy, scored a brace of goals. But it is his celebration for the first goal that has got people talking.

There has been no confirmation from Pulisic or the USMNT as to the source of the celebration but plenty on social media were quick to draw links between his celebration and that of his other sporting peers; Donald Trump’s signature move.

The dance originates from Trump’s campaign rallies, particularly a notable performance on October 15th where he danced for about 40 minutes after two individuals collapsed during a speech. The moves typically involve moving arms back and forth and up and down, often to songs like “YMCA”.

Other sportsmen have been involved with the dance. Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers was amongst the first to popularize the trend. Other big names include UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, who celebrated with Trump after his most recent win.
