The outpouring of praise and affection for Pelé and his family has been incredible. The legendary Brazilian soccer player left an important mark on and off the pitch and that is why his transcendence had the power to break borders around the globe. Pelé was a once in a lifetime talent and his departure will not be easy for all those who grew up admiring him.

Didier Deschamps, current coach of the France soccer team, added to the praise for ‘O Rei’. Deschamps witnessed the quality of Edson Arantes do Nascimento and did not hesitate to point out that, like many children, he dreamed of being like the legendary Brazilian goalscorer, who inspired “several generations who aspired to be footballers (...) Who didn’t dream of being like Pelé as a child?” he asked.

"Pelé seemed immortal", Deschamps

Stunned by the news like millions of fans around the world, Didier pointed out that Pelé was an imposing figure on and off the pitch. He also added that everything he achieved as a footballer will remain in eternity.

“Like all legends, he seemed immortal. Pelé was the alliance of beauty with efficiency. His talent and honors will remain forever etched in our memory”, concluded the 2018 World Cup winner and the runner-up in the 2022 edition of the World Cup.
