Diego Cocca had a very short-lived stint as El Tri national team coach. After seven games, the Mexican Soccer Federation (FMF) chose to dispense with his services a decision that was not well received by the Argentine two-time Liga MX champion with Atlas FC.

In an interview with Diego Peña from TUDN, this is what the Argentine had to say about his departure: “It’s almost impossible to take a balanced look at what happened, we knew that things were going to be very difficult and that many mentalities had to be changed, but I felt that there was no desire to change from the other side”.

However, the coach, who is currently without a team, said that this disappointment will not stop him from demonstrating his quality in another club. “Just because of those few who decided that I should not continue with the national team, I am not prepared to throw away all the good work previously with all the people and the clubs I spent time with. I wish Mexico the best as always, I will no longer be part of the national team and I have work in the future and this will show that we could have made a change with the national team.”

The Argentine concluded by expressing that his departure from Tigres was not appreciated and despite changing his role with the national team, he felt that: “there were people who did not want to change, they wanted to continue working in the same way and when things continue the same way the same way, the result will always be the same.”
