Domino effect to push Gabriel Fernández towards Pumas

Everything seems to indicate that Club Universidad Nacional will have a new striker for the 2023 Apertura. Gabriel Fernández is the player who coach Antonio Mohamed has requested to reinforce the Auriazul attack and partner Juan Ignacio Dinenno.

A series of movements could create a domino effect that would see El Toro arrive at the Pedregal. Juárez, where Fernández spent last season on loan, did not exercise their option to purchase the Uruguayan from Celta Vigo and have decided to sign Amaury Escoto instead. The Mexican striker will not continue at Celaya and appears to be on his way to joining Los Bravos.

Movement elsewhere

Meanwhile, Celaya’s response was to sign Fernando Lesme, a 21-year-old Paraguayan who will be responsible for replacing Escoto. At the same time, Pumas have stepped up their operation to land Fernández - a deal is expected to be made official in the coming days.

Returning to Juárez, Alejandra De la Vega’s team brought in Avilés Hurtado, Haret Ortega and two Chivas pearls: Sebastián Pérez Bouquet and Diego Campillo, both of whom impressed with good performances for Tapatío in the Expansion League.
