The present may be unclear, but it is shaping the future of Eduardo Camavinga. A complicated situation at Real Madrid has created multiple possible paths for the French midfielder. No decisions have been made, either by the player or the club, but the scenario is prompting reflection on all sides. It has also caught the attention of several European heavyweights.

According to reporting, clubs in the Premier League and Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring Camavinga’s situation. Interest is growing, even if it has not yet developed into formal offers.

Premier League and PSG monitoring Camavinga closely

From England, there are several attractive options. The league’s intensity and pace suit Camavinga’s physical and technical profile, and at just 23, his upside remains enormous. He already brings elite-level experience and a résumé that includes 11 major titles, among them two Champions League triumphs.

Meanwhile, in Paris, he is viewed as a potential marquee addition. At Paris Saint-Germain, he would join a midfield group that already includes Vitinha, João Neves, Warren Zaïre-Emery, and Fabián Ruiz, whose contract extension is progressing. Camavinga would add athleticism, versatility, and energy, the kind of final piece that could elevate an already stacked unit.

For now, the interest remains exploratory rather than concrete.

A stop-start season and an undefined role

Camavinga’s current situation is largely shaped by a disrupted season.

An ankle sprain sidelined him for 37 days at the start of the campaign, costing him four games. In early December, another ankle issue ruled him out for three more matches over 12 days. A dental problem later added an additional 11-day absence, forcing him to miss games against Getafe and Celta Vigo.

In total, he has missed about two months and nine matches due to physical setbacks.

Even when fit, his role has lacked clarity. His versatility has proven to be both a strength and a complication. He has been deployed as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder, makeshift winger on both flanks, and even at fullback. What he has not done is settle into the playmaking role he believes suits him best.

He has made 34 appearances, logging 1,807 minutes, ranking 11th on the team in playing time. Yet in the biggest games, he has effectively been the 12th man.

Camavinga falls out of the big-game equation

In recent marquee matchups, including clashes with Manchester City and Atlético Madrid, the midfield setup has shifted away from him.

Youngsters have emerged, while Aurélien Tchouaméni has been paired with new options. Federico Valverde has often drifted wide to the right, with Arda Güler operating as a free-roaming presence on the left.

In that setup, Camavinga has been more of a rotational piece than a core figure. He has yet to fully impose himself.

World Cup 2026 concerns

The situation is not sitting well with the player.

Camavinga is not fully satisfied with his role, and that dissatisfaction carries potential consequences. His limited involvement at club level could affect his standing with the France national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

During the most recent international break, he logged just 30 minutes. Only he, Randal Kolo Muani, and third-choice goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier returned without a single start.

That context has fueled internal discussions. Within the locker room, the possibility of a summer departure is no longer unthinkable.

No final decision has been made, either by the club or the player. For now, the noise is louder at the training ground than in the executive offices. But the sense of uncertainty is real.

PSG: A familiar Camavinga admirer returns

Interest from Paris is not new.

Back in 2019, a 16-year-old Camavinga delivered a stunning performance for Stade Rennais against Paris Saint-Germain, announcing himself to the soccer world. That breakout moment put him on the radar of Europe’s elite, including Real Madrid.

Madrid ultimately secured his signing in 2021 for a reported $32 million plus add-ons, fending off strong interest from PSG.

Now, years later, those Parisian overtures have returned. And this time, Camavinga’s future feels more open than ever.
