Efraín Álvarez linked with a move to Liga MX

Chivas and Puebla are monitoring the Mexico international’s situation with the Galaxy because of the lack of minutes he has seen this campaign.

Efraín Álvarez made his debut with the Los Angeles Galaxy first team in the inaugural game of the 2019 MLS regular season, coming on as a substitute, and provided an assist for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored the winning goal, in the 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire.

The Mexico international finished that season with three assists in 14 appearances, four as a starter, and Ibrahimovic praised the level of the LA Galaxy product that year. “By far he’s the best talent in MLS,” said the Swedish striker when asked about the talented LA Galaxy youngster.

Álvarez could play in Liga MX next year

In the following seasons, the Galaxy started to give Álvarez a more prominent role but he could never secure a spot in the starting XI despite the opportunities he received. In his fourth year with the senior team, the Mexico international has scored three goals and provided four assists in 22 appearances, 12 of them as a starter, for a total of 1,253 minutes.

According to AS sources, the 20-year-old is not happy with his role with the team this season and he could look for an exit during the January transfer window. Per sources, Efraín Álvarez has offers from Liga MX sides Chivas and Puebla. If given the opportunity to choose, the 20-year-old would rather play in Guadalajara and the Galaxy could let him go for $5 million to part ways with him.
