During the match between Pumas and América at the Azteca Stadium, Emanuel Montejano, who belongs to the Pumas’ Under-20 team, was observed in the stadium accompanied by family members and he was approached by intimidating auriazules fans.

Montejano threatened by América fans

Given this fact, the university youth issued a statement explaining that he was not wearing an America sweatshirt, but that it was a different color, but due to the intimidation he received, he had to change it with one of his relatives .

I attended the Azteca Stadium to support my Pumas teammates accompanied by two relatives. Prior to the start of the game, a group of eight people dressed in black and some with ‘la banda del pebetero’ T-shirts approached and began to yell at me, insulting me and threatening to kill me,” read his statement.

“They also suggested that I cheered on the rival team, which is impossible, since after receiving the threats and even before the game started I had to be removed, escorted by staff from the Azteca Stadium to be able to safeguard me and my family,” he wrote.

Although Pumas drew 1-1 with América, the cats still have a chance of advancing to the playoffs if they manage to emerge victorious in Matchday 17. However, they are now reliant on the results from other teams.
