England discover Euro 2024 draw group of death possibility
In qualifying, England topped Group C ahead of reigning European champions Italy.
England could be included in a tricky group in the Euro 2024 draw on Saturday. A ‘group of death’ for Gareth Southgate’s men would arguably include Denmark and the Netherlands or Croatia from Pot Three.
England - runners-up at Euro 2020 - will be one of the favourites to win the tournament, with stars including Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham in their starting eleven.
In qualifying, they topped Group C ahead of reigning European champions Italy, which has earned them a place among the top seeds for the draw.
The draw ceremony will feature soccer stars including David Silva, Sami Khedira, Wesley Sneijder, Miroslav Klose as well as former Italy shot-stopper Gianluigi Buffon.
England boss Southgate said: “There look like being really strong teams in pot two and pot three looks like it could be very strong. In the last Euros, we had Croatia in with us, who proved to be one of the best teams in the world over the last few years and we managed to navigate that so we’ve just got to be ready for whatever comes our way.”
Where is the Euro 2024 final being held?
Munich will host the opening game on June 14, while the final will take place in Berlin on July 14. Other host cities include Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Leipzig, Gelsenkirchen and Stuttgart.
UEFA has divided the 24-team tournament in Germany next summer into three regions to reduce travel and carbon emissions.
