Italy still lead 0-2 in Budapest and they will win the group and advance to the Final Four in Amsterdam next June along with Netherlands, Croatia and either Spain-Portugal.

Into added time at Wembley and what a second half we've had. Germany on top and 0-2 ahead, a great comeback from Germany who took the lead and then a slip-up from Nick Pope to gift Kai Havertz an easy tap in.

The second Germany came from a slip-up from Maguire who was dispossessed deep inside the Germany half. Once again, Musiala was instrumental in starting the counter feeding Werner with the finish from Havertz sublime.

The Bayern player has been excellent this evening and is doing everything to secure his place in the Germany XI in the World Cup opener vs. Japan.

Germany offered a few glimpses of attacking threat and it was that last minute Kimmich that was the best scoring chance for the visitors.

The atmosphere at Wembley goes flat as Stones leaves the pitch. Worrying for any player with the World Cup just a matter of weeks away.

Bad news for England as Stones has to be subbed ... Seems to be a muscular problem as Kyle Walker will replace the City defender. 

Raspadori has given Italy the lead in Budapest and this result would see Roberto Mancini's side win the group.

After that bright five minute spell from England, Germany have regained possession of the ball and continue to dominate proceedings.

Best chance of the night falls to Sterling as the Chelsea forward fires on target form the edge of the box and forces a wonderful stop from Ter stegen.

England press again and Germany manage to avert the danger. England fans making all the noise now.

More nervous defending from England as Germany are just unable to get the final shot on goal as the visitors rob the ball initially deep inside their own half.

Stones almost gifts Germany a ball inside the six yard box but Pope was alert and fires clear. Poor defending from the Man City man.

Sane takes but drives the ball straight into the England wall. Poor strike from the Bayern man.

Approaching the quarter of an hour mark and it's been a bright start to proceedings. England seem unphased and don't look like a side under pressure.

Poor touch from Pope as he lets the ball slip and Gundogan fails to capitalize and fires over. Once or twice we say the keeper overplay the ball at the back at San Siro.

First corner of the night goes to the visiting side... Stones does well to rob Havertz but once again the move breaks down. England looking dangerous on the counters.

Both sides easing their way into the action.... Neither keeper yet to be called upon with decent noise levels being generated at Wembley by the home England fans anxious to do their bit and rally their side in this time of need.

Many eyebrows raised with the selection of Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire for England. Neither player getting action for Manchester United and their playing does contradict with previous Southgate's observations that club performances are key to getting playing time for the national side.

Almost impossible to see the FA reacting and sacking the coach at this late stage of the day should England lose again but the pressure would ramp up another level ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

Germany lucrative WC bonuses announced

Qatar 2022 represents an opportunity for Die Mannschaft to win their fifth title and equal the record, held by Brazil. But a lot has changed since Germany were last crowned world champions in 2014. 

The German Football Association (DFB) have given the team an extra incentive to make their World Cup campaign a successful one with a series of performance-related bonuses. Each player will receive a bonus payment of 50,000 euros if Germany manage to qualify from Group E and make it into the Round of 16. The bonuses are on top of the fixed match fee every player will receive for taking part.

Booking a place in the quarter finals will earn Flick’s team 100,000 euros per player and the bonus will rise to 400,000 euros ($390,000) if they lift the World Cup in Lusail on 18 December. Reaching the semi-finals would guarantee 150,000 euros each, while a third-place finish would see playing take home 200,000 euros each. If they go all the way to the final but lose, they will receive 250,000 euros each for ending as runners-up.

Both England and Germany will start the 2022 World Cup as two of the favourites.

England are pitted in Group B and expected to advance to the next stage with Wales, USA and Iran sharing the group.

Germany are in a tough Group E and will play Japan, Spain and Costa Rica with the top two sides advancing to the Round of 16.

The Germany coach offered his thoughts of Monday's Wembley clash: "Of course it’s a special game. It’s a real classic encounter in one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world. The team are looking forward to tomorrow, and we want to get back on track."

"Overall, it’s important to win because that gives the team confidence and a positive feeling. However, games like the one against Hungary are also part it. We can’t lose confidence in the team, which we aren’t. I have full confidence in the team."

Harry Kane positive ahead of Qatar

“I believe we are going to be judged on how we perform out in Qatar. We’re just in one of those moments where it’s not quite going our way. We’re confident we can turn that around,” he stated.

“We have one more game on Monday to try to get some good feelings back. Ultimately, once we get to the World Cup, we will be ready for that first game and be fully focused on that" stated the Spurs striker.

“I don’t think our confidence has been dented, but you want to win games. We are all experienced enough, with our clubs especially we have been through those moments when things haven’t been going so well. It’s about bouncing back.”

Tonight's UEFA Nations League action will see an all Dutch team in charge with match referee Danny Makkelie with assistants: Hessel Steegstra and Jan de Vries. The fourth official is Sander Van Der Eijk with Pol van Boekel in the Video Assistant Referee booth.

Sterling: It is not time for England to panic

Raheem Sterling has defended England boss Gareth Southgate ahead of his side’s UEFA Nations League clash with Germany on Monday.

The Three Lions suffered relegation from the Nations League following Friday’s 1-0 defeat to Italy, and on a poor run with no wins in five matches.

When asked about the criticism aimed at Southgate, Sterling said: “We all know that is what comes with football and playing at the highest level.

“You are under scrutiny and a lot of it is unfair, of course, but that is the level we are at with England,” he said.

“We are always under that pressure to win, and this small loss of form is not something we need to panic about. We now have a big opportunity coming up in the winter to go out and show what we can do again.”

No time to panic: Southgate

England manager Gareth Southgate admitted on Sunday that recent results had been unacceptable but added he was not hiding from criticism after his side were relegated to the second tier of the Nations League.

‘The results haven’t been at the level we want, that we require, so no matter what job you have in football that would be the case,’ Southgate told reporters ahead of their final group game against Germany at Wembley Stadium on Monday. ‘Of course, with the national team that noise is going to be louder and more widespread, I understand that. I’m not hiding from it, we are not enjoying it but we have to keep doing the right things every day to keep improving.’

League A- Group 3: as it stands

It’s a two-way battle at the top between surprise package Hungary and the current European champions Italy with the Magyars only needing a draw (or win) to win the group and advance to the finals stage. England will play the next edition of the Nations League in tier B after their 1-0 defeat to Italy in Milan and pride very much on the line with both the home side and Die Mannschaft both looking to boost their supporters hopes in the last competitive test before the World Cup.

Wembley sell-out

Despite nothing riding on the game, an England vs Germany is always a special occasion with a full house expected at the North London stadium tonight where 80,000 fans are anticipated to attend... not bad for a Monday night in late September !

The last meeting between the European powerhouses came in the Nations League back in June with the game at Munich's Allianz Arena ending 1-1 after a late Harry Kane penalty secured a point for England.

The 'Three Lions' last crossed paths with Germany in the Round of 16 at Euro 2020 as second-half goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane sealed the win for England in their first knockout game of the competition.

The game will be a huge opportunity for both national team managers to impress as tonight's game will be the last time we see England and Germany in action before the 2022 World Cup.
