Their victory in the third and final game in the first stage sent them to the top of their group. The team hopes to advance to the quarterfinals and improve on their fourth-place finish at the World Cup four years ago.

England hauled in a total of nine goals in their first three games, the most the country has amassed in the group stage.

A serious bid for England

The squad is considered one of the serious contenders for the championship, and the heavy favorites in their game against Senegal.

Team manager Gareth Southgate switched four players for their meeting with Wales and the move paid off, with Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden delivering goals. Kyle Walker and Jordan Henderson completed the quartet, and they are all likely to maintain their places in the knockout phase.

Bukaya Saka, Jack Grealish, and Raheem Sterling are all vying for a starting position, but they may find themselves on the bench against Senegal.
