Erling Haaland is Europe’s most impactful player, according to artificial intelligence company Olocip. The Norwegian goalscoring machine leads Europe’s top five leagues with a rating of 7.16. The next player on the list is Neymar with 6.76. The third most decisive player in Europe with 6.26 is Sheraldo Becker, the Union Berlin striker is the key player in the team that has stormed to the top of the Bundesliga.

In an eleven with no Spanish or LaLiga representation, the team with the most players is PSG, Neymar, Lionel Messi (4.52) and Achraf Hakimi (3.71). Kylian Mbappé does not form part of the AI headlines. The Frenchman has a 4.56, slightly higher than Messi, but behind the most impactful strikers, Haaland and Becker. The Argentinian is also the most influential playmaker in Europe from midfield.

No LaLiga player appears in Olocip’s line-up. The highest rated player is Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski with a 5.42 rating. The LaLiga podium is completed by Celta Vigo talisman Iago Aspas with 4.06 and Real Madrid’s Rogrygo with 3.62. The continent’s three theoretically strongest leagues are under-represented. Haaland is the only player representing the Spanish, English and Italian competitions.

Olocip’s ratings are a summation of the activities that each player performs during the match. Every action a player performs that brings his team closer to a goal is rated positively. In the same way, individual plays that bring the opponent closer to scoring a goal are penalised.
