Erling Haaland on an MLS move, his training secrets and fighting Kylian Mbappé

The Manchester City striker joined Logan Paul and KSI on the Impaulsive podcast to discuss everything from athlete hacks to his rivalry with the PSG star.

Erling Haaland has had a near-perfect first year with Manchester City, winning the treble in his debut season and picking up the PFA Player of the Year award. City have started the new Premier League season with three wins from three and Haaland has scored three goals.

The Norwegian forward recently took time out of his busy schedule to appear on the ‘Impaulsive’ podcast with Logan Paul and KSI.

With so much hype around Lionel Messi’s performances with Inter Miami, Haaland was asked if he would consider playing in MLS one day.

“I’ve not be there much, so it’s difficult to say,” Haaland said. “But I’m 23, people are going over to the MLS and playing football there, I’ve never thought of it because I’m young.”

“I’m a footballer, in ten years I’m 33 and I’ve got my last couple of years in football,” he said, hinting that he might consider an MLS move when he’s older.

For now Haaland seems very content with life at the European champions, although his schedule allows him precious little down-time,

“Now I’ve got ten months a year to focus, and then one month off, to relax, and then a month to prepare for the next season,” he explained.

Haaland outlines “the most important thing” in daily routine

Since his move to Red Bull Salzburg in 2019 Haaland has been scoring goals at a rate of one per game, practically unheard of in professional soccer. He possesses a natural gift for goal scoring and has been blessed with an incredible physique.

In the course of the podcast conversation, Paul asked the 6ft 4in forward how he makes the most of his imposing frame.

“I’m into biomechanics,” Haaland explained. “Using your body to make it work and function in the best possible way.”

But his key piece of advice focused on something that everyone does, every single day: sleep.

I think sleep is the most important thing in the world,” he said.

“To sleep well I use simple things, blue-blocking glasses, shutting out all the signal and everything in the bedroom.... These kind of things, doing small things every day for a long time really pays off.”

Haaland not interested in Mbappé fight

Logan Paul first came to public attention as a social media content creator on Vine and YouTube, before becoming one of the first celebrity boxing stars. Predictably, given that Haaland is often considered Kylian Mbappé's rival as the best player in the word, he was asked whether the two young stars would consider a meeting in the ring.

“No, I’m not really into fighting,” Haaland answered. “To be honest, I prefer just to speak. So no, not really.”

Despite Haaland’s imposing stature, he is rarely involved in confrontations on the pitch and tends to let his performances do the talking. After scoring 55 goals in his first 58 games for Manchester City, who can blame him?
