Erling Haaland’s agent: “Will he go to Madrid? You should ask them that”
Rafaela Pimenta dodged the question of the Norweigian’s future at Manchester City, preferring to keep quiet about the goal scoring star.
There is no forum that Rafaela Pimenta attends in which she is not asked about one of her biggest clients: Erling Haaland. The agent recently travelled to the Santiago Bernabéu to watch the UEFA Champions League game against Sporting Braga and could not avoid being asked about a possible future in which the Norwegian may once day wear the white of Real Madrid.
On Thursday she participated in a conference held by the Italian Association of Football Agents (IAFA), and in addition to the many questions about the market in Italy, the media also found the time to quiz her about Haaland, without a doubt her most popular client at the moment.
‘Will he sign for Madrid? You should ask Madrid that’
“Will he sign for Madrid? You should ask Madrid that”, responded Pimienta to the question that undoubtedly leaves football fans - Madridistas in particular - feeling restless.
As reported by AS, the LaLiga club maintain a firm interest in Erling Haaland (and Kylian Mbappé), but the contact has been simply sounding out where all parties stand. The club cannot yet enter into any form of negotiation with the player as FIFA rules do not allow for it.
How much would Haaland cost to sign?
Haaland’s contract with Manchester City runs until 2027, and as AS has reported before, there are various release clauses that make a potential exit an easier operation to carry out - at a price. Next summer, his transfer would cost €250 million ($272m), a figure which would drop in 2025 and even more in 2026, when there is only a year left on his deal.
The striker will not got to the Euro 2024 tournament with Norway after his side failed to qualify, despite the fantastic rate at which he is scoring goals with his club side. Haaland has 69 goals in 71 games with City in only a year and a half; this season he has scored 17 in 18 games, showing Real Madrid exactly what they would be getting should they finally make contact.
